If you type a lower-case ASCII charactor from a limited set (dhlmoqrwz), several lines of formatted ASCII numbers are sent from the scanner. This looks like engineering debugging output rather than a customer feature. The sub-processor appears to be a NXP LPC4370. Both fully charged and locked onto one TG, the G5 lasted 20.5 hours, while the SDS lasted 8 hours. G5 screen timeout set to 45 seconds and SDS100 set to 10 seconds. This TG is always quiet and little traffic. So I recently purchased an SDS100 with the DMR upgrade. The receive quality doesnt even compare to any of the HTs I have. The Sentinel update to 2.03 went fine and now has the new tuning steps for custom searches, but I don't have any need for them. I get CC alerts several hundred meters from mast mounted 25W repeaters sending beacons - but my Baofeng UV-5R failed to trigger CC even about 60 meters from my house. It is the first scanner to incorporate I/Q technology and SDR (Software Defined Radio) in a mobile/base platform. This provides superior performance scanning LSM (Linear Simulcast Modulation) systems. I am new to the Uniden SDS100 and SDS200. I have one of each; the 100 for the truck and the 200 with a mast-mounted Discone for beside my chair. I am completely ignorant to the proper use of quick keys and the best strategy for using favorites lists to my advantage.SDS100 is a good radio if you can find one available, the SDS radios are the only consumer scanners that are successful with simulcast Distortion secondary to LSM. They work great on simulcast systems while other radios will have difficulties. There have been some quality control issues with a series of specific problems.The SDS100 picks up both with no issues. This honey badger eats simulcast for breakfast. Faster scanning. Like 25-50% faster plowing through conventional channels, or 100-120 channels/second vs 80 for the x36. The screen is much clearer than the displays of the x36 scanners. MUCH CLEARER..
